From 6th to 7th April 2017, the kick off meeting of ARISE Appetite for Enterprise took place in Palermo at CESIE premises.
The aim of the ARISE project is to promote the social and entrepreneurial capacities of migrant women through the development and exploitation of food-related knowledge and skills that provide possibilities for income-generating activities. The project will foster the development and implementation of economically sustainable food-related innovative business ideas in order to promote mutual learning between the culture of migrant women and the one of the welcoming communities.
The project’s partnership groups six organisations from different Countries:
- CESIE (Italy), lead parter f the project,
- Four Elements (Greece),
- Verein Niedersächsischer Bildungsinitiativen e.V. (Germany),
- Elan Interculturel (France),
- Verein Multikulturell (Austria),
- Folkuniversitetet, Stiftelsen kursverksamheten vid Uppsala Universitet (Sweden).
The project is funded by the DG Home Affairs of the European Commission through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
The meeting was a useful and productive moment to settle the project strategies and better define future activities. Partners interacted and discussed also on how to improve intercultural dialogue and the culture of welcoming communities in their countries to reduce social exclusion of migrants and contribute to their better integration.
The first phase of the project will be the quantitative and qualitative data collection on migrant women’s social, economic, learning needs, and the analysis of business climate and preconditions for food-related business establishment in each country.
