The E-PODS onlinE PrOfessional Development in Second chance Education – project started in November, it’s the follow-up of DISCO – DIgital Second Chance Opportunities – project, within which the online platform www.secondchanceeducation.eu for teachers and trainers has been developed.
E-PODS promotes European integration of professional development of teachers and trainers in second chance education and sets up an organic and growing database connecting tools, schools, teachers, trainers and beneficiaries.
The activities which will be implemented are: creating a European professional development service; vitalising the online teacher and trainer community www.secondchanceeducation.eu; further developments for the current professional development offers; developing a tool to create own e-learning courses; supporting the bottom-up development of e-learning created for and by teachers and trainers.
During the two years project quality tools will be developed for quality assurance of international placements; online community building and quality assurance of educational organisations.
Existing good practices and resources (Curricula, methodologies, teaser practices, studies and other tools) will be further developed; training offers will be connected with demand; and an User-driven European trainers and teachers community in Second Chance Education will be implemented.
CESIE is one of the project partner, the coordinator is Betawerk B.V. (The Netherlands), other partners are: Stichting EURICON (The Netherlands); Lancaster and Morecambe College (United Kingdom); Phoenix Social Enterprise Limited (United Kingdom); Diktyo Menon Symvouleftikes Ypiresies Ltd (Greece); Weiterbildungskolleg Mönchengladbach (Germany) Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute (Cyprus).
In November the partners came together in Heerlen (NL) to discuss the further steps of the project funded by the Erasmus plus Programme which it has just begun and will last two years.
