Today, the formal education system is struggling to keep pace with the rapid changes in communication. We live immersed in a constant stream of content from diverse sources, disseminated across multiple platforms, where distinguishing between reliable information and misinformation is becoming increasingly complex.
What makes fake news particularly problematic is the speed at which it spreads, amplified by the intensive use of social media. This situation poses a significant challenge for both teachers and learners, making the development of critical skills in reading and interpreting digital content increasingly urgent.
In response to this need, Think Twice promotes the development of media literacy in education, supporting educators, teaching staff and the student community in acquiring useful tools to navigate online information with awareness. The initiative was launched with the aim of offering opportunities for growth and practical activities to be integrated into educational programmes and continuing professional development.
As part of the project, webinars are organised and modular workshops are being trialled for educators, alongside the development of an interactive educational game designed to engage the student community in recognising disinformation and strengthening critical thinking. Activities continue to take place across the various partner countries, involving primary and secondary schools as well as universities, and reaching a broad and diverse community.
Through a practical and participatory approach, Think Twice provides concrete tools, visual resources and innovative methodologies to effectively tackle the challenges posed by disinformation. The aim is not only to develop digital skills, but to help people recognise false information, evaluate sources and develop critical thinking.
