We are looking for long-term and short-term experts for a project funded by GIZ in Malawi: “Improving Basic Education”. The project is part of the “Basic Education Programme” of GIZ in Malawi, and will focus on developing a training programme for primary school teachers to identify and support primary school children with learning disabilities. It will start in January 2017 and end in October 2018.

The project has three main objectives:

  1. Conceptualization and successful implementation of the ICT supported certificate course for regular primary school teachers on inclusive learning support for children with learning difficulties in mainstream schools
  2. Provision of training of involved partner institutions
  3. Elaboration of recommendations regarding technical implementation and adequate hard- and software procurement and on the implementation of a local maintenance system during inception phase as well as subsequent implementation of agreed recommendations on ICT.

Expert 1: International Long Term Expert (Team Leader) – will work for 22 months in the project in Malawi, starting in January 2017.
General qualification
  • university degree in social pedagogy, educational sciences or social sciences
  • special needs education, blended learning in adult education, curricula development, knowledge management, communication skills in intercultural contexts, cooperation management, Monitoring and Evaluation
Specific qualification
  • Assessment and provision of learning support interventions for children with learning difficulties
  • Coordination of content development and quality assurance
  • Development and implementation of in-service teacher training as blended learning training course
  • Development of face-to-face/online and self-study teaching and learning material
  • Experience in course management
  • management experience
  • ability to work in a team
Regional experience / Knowledge of country (Malawi)
Africa/developing and/or emerging countries
Language skills
fluent English (German proficiency is an advantage)

 

Expert 2: National Long Term Expert (training development expert) – will work for 18 months in the project in Malawi, starting date to be determined
General qualification
  • university degree in social pedagogy, educational sciences or social sciences
  • special needs education, blended learning in adult education, curricula development, knowledge management, communication skills in intercultural contexts, cooperation management, Monitoring and Evaluation
Specific qualification
  • Assessment and provison of learning support interventions for children with learning difficulties
  • Coordination of content development and quality assurance
  • Development and implementation of in-service teacher training as blended leraning training course
  • Development of face-to-face/online and self-study teaching and learning material
  • Experience in course management

Expert 3: National Long Term Expert (project management support) – will work for 22 months in the project in Malawi, starting in January 2017

  • Administration and financial management
Specific qualification
  • administrative and financial support to the management of the project and its personnel
  • support in monitoring and documentation of progress in work
  • logistical support of implementation of in-service teacher-training
  • intercultural competencies, partner-and client-orientation, interdisciplinary work experience
  • management experience
  • ability to work in a team

Pool of experts: National and International Short Term Experts – dates and duration of assignments will be coordinated flexibly during the project
General qualification
  • Communication design
  • installments ICT/IT systems, online training/blended learning, adult education
Specific qualification
One or more of the following qualifications:

  • development and implementation of blended learning concepts/components and feasible IT systems in developing countries
  • development/production of offline and online learning material with appropriate mix of multimedia elements as well as possibilities for peer to peer learning and student/teacher interaction
  • development of a course handbook for blended learning components
  • development and implementation of a training concept for staff of partner institutions
  • management experience
  • ability to work in a team

Working experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage

Esperti da Francia, Italia e Belgio hanno analizzato le dinamiche del fenomeno e condiviso strumenti pratici sviluppati nei paesi partner. L’evento si è concluso ribadendo l’importanza della cooperazione europea per prevenire e contrastare questa grave forma di abuso.
