In an age where political engagement is both a necessity and a challenge, the Get Political emerges as a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing political literacy and active participation among young individuals aged 15 to 30, youth workers, and educators. The iniative, coordinated by the Ayuntamiento de Purchena, combines innovative tools, inclusive methodologies, and cross-sector collaboration to foster a deeper understanding of political systems and empower youth to confidently navigate and shape democratic processes.
At its core, Get Political seeks to bridge gaps in political knowledge and engagement by offering participatory learning experiences through initiatives like Political Talks, the Get Political 101 Guide, and Political Peddy Papers. These resources are designed not only to inform but also to inspire young people by placing them at the heart of political discourse and decision-making. By documenting youth experiences in political and electoral processes, the project highlights the unique challenges and opportunities faced by young citizens, while providing actionable insights to policymakers and educators.
Adopting a systemic and inclusive approach, the project fosters collaboration across diverse stakeholders, including youth organizations, educators, and political institutions, ensuring that young people’s voices are integral to its implementation. Through hands-on activities like study visits to political institutions and interactive tasks tailored to different political frameworks, participants will connect theory with practice, bridging the often-daunting gap between abstract political concepts and real-world applications.
Get Political also emphasizes capacity-building among youth workers and educators, equipping them with practical resources like the Booklet of Political Literacy Practices and the Political Peddy Paper Methodology Manual. These tools will serve as vital assets in developing effective training programs that address the diverse needs of young participants. Additionally, platforms for dialogue between youth and political leaders will help build trust and mutual understanding, reinforcing the importance of youth perspectives in shaping inclusive and responsive political systems.
Aligned with European Union priorities on youth engagement, the project transcends borders, fostering collaboration among partner countries to create a unified vision of active civic participation. By integrating educational resources, social media campaigns, and multimedia content, the project not only raises awareness but also galvanizes action, leveraging the power of youth-oriented channels to amplify its impact.
In this ambitious endeavor, Get Political envisions a future where young individuals are not merely observers of political systems but active architects of democratic change. By engaging, connecting, and empowering its target audiences, the project lays the foundation for a more informed, inclusive, and participatory society—one where the voices of young citizens resonate loudly in the corridors of power.
