What benefits and difficulties emerge in measuring social impact for civil society organizations? Why is it important to carry out such assessment?

To analyse these issues in depth, Erasmus+ project SIM4CSOs partners conducted a research in 8 different countries-Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Croatia, Portugal, Poland, Norway and Israel. This research enabled them to gather some good practices for measuring the social impact of civil society organizations and to thoroughly examine the current needs, benefits and difficulties encountered in this field. Based on the research findings, the partnership produced a methodological manual for measuring social impact, which was presented by CESIE at the information event held on Friday, May 27 at Moltivolti (Palermo).   SIM4CSOs Handbook is aimed at all those who want to improve their knowledge in the field of social impact measurement and management through a theoretical part, a detailed guide for planning their measurement model and a practical tool to facilitate the development of their SIMM (Social Impact Measurement and Management) framework.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on key concepts related to social impact measurement, exchange ideas and experiences, and rediscover good practices, starting with a reflection on the importance of measuring the social impact of civil society organizations and performing together some practical exercises offered in the Handbook.    The Handbook will soon be available online in project partners’ languages at the following link: https://measuringimpact.eu/it/risorse/

A second event will take place in September 2022 in Palermo.
