Engaging young people in an active way by increasing their skills was the main goal of Rebuild. Over the months of the project, we developed educational tools for youth workers and young people who wish to design and implement social solidarity and green lifestyle initiatives in their communities.
We provided the young people involved with the necessary tools for greater civic participation, aiming for constructive dialogue, having an active role in the inclusive and sustainable reconstruction of their communities by training them on these issues, from design and project implementation techniques to the development of awareness and communication campaigns, fostering their dialogue with stakeholders and policy makers in the world related to youth development.
Thanks to their input and with their involvement, through regular meetings and workshops everything that emerged from these participatory dialogues was collected within two manuals:
Youth Manual – The REBUILD Youth Manual is dedicated to young people and provides them with guidance, supportive tools and inspiring stories to help them in the design and management of their initiatives. It contains a brief guide to designing, implementing and communicating projects. A guide on using social media and innovative tools to create successful outreach campaigns through innovative methodologies and featuring best practices from local organizations across Europe.
The REBUILD Toolbox is aimed at youth workers and educators who want to guide young people in designing and creating their own initiatives, to turn their ideas into reality. It contains many useful nonformal education tools and a program of 8 workshops on design, implementation and outreach that you can also adapt to your needs in the interactive version: https://urbanperspective.eu/training-toolbox
This compendium was inspired by many good practices of social solidarity and green lifestyle initiatives from all over Europe, which Rebuild project partners researched and mapped, including a guide for facilitating design workshops with description and agenda of 8 specific sessions and a kit with nonformal activities to use during the workshops.
Finally, the Compendium of Youth Initiatives summarizes all the initiatives that have been designed by youth groups in the countries involved in the REBUILD project to inspire other groups who wish to make a change in their communities.
