The “Education and training of unemployed with social economy issues – professional development of skills in the public employment services and training institutions” project, co-founded by the Erasmus Plus Programme – Ka1 Mobility for staff- realized between May and June 2015, was developed with the purpose of promoting mobility for people in particular field as lifelong learning and the working one, focusing the attention on ideas and projects implemented in the socio-cultural context in the city of Palermo.
The twenty participants, coming from the employment service of Mława and from the Pro-Europa foundation of the city of Toruń, had the possibility to visit many institutions working in the field of education and learning (Cerisdi, Engim and Mediazioni), the employment service of Cefalù and many cooperatives and associations (“Cooperativa La Fraternità” that works with disabled people; “Centro Astalli”, “Moltivolti” and Santa Chiara, operating in migrant services and “Libera. Associations, names and numbers against mafias”). In particular, this kind of socio-cultural organizations seem to be the keys to get professional information related to educational-work aspect of all the “sensitive” categories that allow to get a complete and real picture of the society of Palermo.
The project wasn’t only a simple presentation of ideas and reality. The main aim has been to identify an overview of all the aspects that influence work and education, carrying out a path that started from education and workforce’s jurisdiction and finished with the effects of these laws within society.
The results, showed by the participants after the tour, represented an occasion to a cultural enrichment, to understand both strengths and weaknesses of the Italian and Poland educational- occupational systems.
The exchange gave the opportunity to show qualities and lacks of two realities that are different in the historical, cultural and political aspects. During the journey in Palermo, the group had the possibility to live in a multicultural context and to observe a concrete realization of the information acquired during the different visits, supporting the idea that diversity and exchange are occasions of continuous improvement.
