On 19th and 20th September, the Green League project kick started with the first consortium meeting.

The 7 partner organisations’ representatives met in Palermo, Italy, to start working on the project and plan the first steps to be undertaken to kick start this journey that will aim at the enhancement and strengthening of the link between sport and environment.

Green League is born from the need to raise awareness on the population on the urgency of taking actions to counteract and combat the climate change, the environment destruction and their consequences, while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

In order to answer to these needs, the Green League will work on the use of sport as a way to generate environmental awareness among young people, their families and young amateur athletes.

All this will be done by a series of actions, activities and through the production of guidelines and training materials to increase the competences of sport professionals, and the capacity of sport club, to act as catalysts for positive environmental changes in the practice and promotion of sport. All this will be guided by the Green League Model, an operational model that will give guidelines, instructions, tips, useful information on how to better link sport and environment.

Stay tuned to know about the progresses of the project and to be informed about the International collaborative workshop for sport professional that will start in a few months.
