Increasing the problem-solving abilities of students and trainees is an important and valuable asset in today’s dynamic work environment. CESIE recently held a workshop for trainers and teachers under the ADDET project which aim to provide them with the skills necessary to teach the Design Thinking methodology to their students.

What is Design Thinking? Design thinking is a solution-based approach to problem solving which provides students with a clear 6 step path leading them through the process of a project. It is a user-centred approach that aims to accommodate the individual specifications of each individual, allowing them to develop a practical approach to problem solving.

The seminar hosted by CESIE introduced teachers and trainers to the ADDET project, before informing them about the key principles of the Design Thinking methodology. This was also completed by a session showing to participants the practical uses of design thinking as a means of increasing the inclusive education opportunities for migrant children (for more information, see the project ENACTED).

The active and vibrant participation of those present demonstrated the interest to explore further the ways in which the design thinking methodology can be applied.
