CiProVoT: Video interviews for Civil Protection Volunteers Training

22 April 2019Adult, News

In which way can we better prevent natural and man-made disasters? How to better prepare civil protection volunteers for their responsibilities?

From 8th to 10th April the third CiProVoT partner meeting accompanied by the expert sessions was held in London (United Kingdom).

CiProVoT aims to develop a Trans-national training course module and a MOOC for Civil Protection volunteers, as well as create a European group of Civil Protection Volunteers.

During the meeting partners presented and discussed the project’s current State of the Art, presenting the developed first drafts of contents for the CiProVoT MOOC for Civil Protection Volunteers and pre-volunteers. Afterwards, civil protection experts from all partner countries reviewed the planed contents giving suggestions on how to improve their structure. The next day, a filming session was held, in which the same experts from Italy, Portugal, Greece, and the UK gave interviews on basic knowledge of civil protection. The resulting videos will be used as introductions to the three modules of the CiProVoT MOOC aiming to enhance volunteers’ knowledge on:

  • The EU Civil Protection Mechanism,
  • Natural hazard and Disaster Risk Reduction,
  • Emergency Planning as well as
  • The use of ICT for Crisis management activities.

The next step will be the revision of contents, before the MOOC for Civil Protection will be created and piloted in Foligno, Italy in July 2019. After its finalisation, it will be released in September 2019. Henceforth, the MOOC will be freely available at the CiProVoT project website www.ciprovot-project.eu. There you can also find the Report on practices and skills identification of Civil Protection volunteers, available in English, Italian, Greek and Portuguese, as well as the training methodology and additional information on the project.

MOVE: young people in action for an inclusive Europe

MOVE involved young people from Italy, Spain, Belgium and Cyprus to raise awareness of migration and promote social inclusion and European cohesion. Through workshops, campaigns and the MOVE Goose Game, participants developed empathy and awareness of the challenges related to inclusion. The course concluded with the presentation of the MOVE Decalogue of Inclusion, a tool for more cohesive societies.
