gf_2Green Fingers project

The Green Fingers project, within the Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Programme , started in January and will end in September 2011.

Point Europe (UK, Cornwall) is the project coordinator, while the partners are CESIE, Pistes Solidaires (France), Gulbene Association (Latvia), ACD La Hoya (Spain) and Diagonal (Hungary).

The activities developed within the project aim to create a group of students, teachers and professionals in the field, to commit to working with children and pensioners or workers close to retirement, exchanging knowledge and opinions about gardening. CESIE intends to involve local partners (Fondazione per il Sud, Ubuntu, Acunamatata) in order to identify a green area to be farmed, and also arrange meetings between experts in the field and children coming from different cultural backgrounds as well as young people living in depressed areas.

The project main goal is to build a link between old and new generations and connect adults and children from different cultural backgrounds, around the theme of gardening and how to take care of a vegetable garden, allowing them to work towards a common goal.

The project plans hands-on work in appropriate areas as well as cultural exchange.

Green Fingers gives teachers and professionals’ the chance to strengthen their competences and offers both young people and adults the opportunity to exchange on environmental issues, each person giving his/her contribution in order to raise awareness about both cultural and environmental themes .
