By the 25th and 26th November will be held in Palermo the last CoNet meeting with the presence of representatives of the partner cities and their Managing Authorities – URBACT II (October 2008 – April 2011).

During the meeting the international partners will visit different local realities in Palermo: Libera, Ubuntu, Centro Astalli, Centro Tau.

The overall objective of the project is to promote sustainable and integrated urban development policies across Europe. Urban areas must face the poverty and integration problem management. These are at the same time the engine of the European economy and, in particular, of the new knowledge-based sectors. The exchange of experiences between cities within the URBACT II Programme, helps to accelerate the process of innovation policy in every city.

Each partner city involved is expected to provide support measure by a local group to be implemented in the neighborhood Ballarò in the urban city centre (CoNet’s focus area) in order to maximize the impact of the transnational exchange of practices between cities and to ensure that the ideas that come up from the project are realistic and sustainable, considering their local impact.

Official Partner of CoNet is the Municipality of Palermo – Department of Youth Affairs while CESIE is responsible for the management of the Local Support Group.
