How to support managerial and academic staff of Tunisian universities in developing skills about governance, financial management and quality assessment?

The second meeting of project sAGESSE – Improving Governance in the Higher Education system in Tunisia was held in Paris in the Paris1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne University on the 12th and 13th July 2018.

SAGESSE aims to support the process of reform and modernisation undertaken by the Higher Education Institutions of Tunisia in connection with the post revolution national change, by means of:

  • improvement of the governance mechanisms;
  • elaboration of new procedures for financial management;
  • implementation of the quality assurance and control systems within the Higher Education Institutions;
  • knowledge and tools enhancement for management, administrative and academic staff.

During the meeting partners have been introduced with the first results of the state-of-art analysis of the mechanisms for governance and quality assurance in Tunisian universities. During the meeting, focus groups with the Presidents, Vice-Presidents, General Secretaries and other representatives of the Tunisian universities have been organised to collect contribution for the finalisation of the research.

Research will provide a need-analysis of the staff responsible for quality assurance and strategic planning which will be the basis for the Train-the-trainers event which will took place in Siena from the 3rd to the 7th of December. Participants from Tunisia to the event will be responsible for sharing the acquired knowledge and skills to other managers and administrative staff within their institution.

In the next months partnership will proceed with defining contents and working methodologies for training and will start setting up the study visits for the staff responsible for financial management in Tunisian universities to the financial and quality assurance departments in the universities of Barcelona, Paris1 and Rome “La Sapienza”.
