On 10-11 December 2013 a kick-off meeting for IN2SAI project took place in Matosinhos (Portugal). The project intends to increase the participation of female students in higher education studies in sciences fields (especially those relevant for aeronautics) and to contribute to their integration in the Aeronautic Industry. It will also contribute to enhancing the attractiveness of scientific studies and careers in Aeronautic Industry among the female population, thereby stimulating gender balance in areas where females remain the underrepresented gender.

IN2SAI is an Erasmus multilateral project (Lifelong Learning Programme) with duration of 24 months – from October 2013 to September 2015. The project involves 4 Universities from Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Germany and 3 NGOs from Italy, Portugal and Austria who will work alongside on the increase of participation and interest of female students into the Aeronautic Industry, covering different areas of intervention, starting from general community, educational system to labour market and the companies working in aeronautic sphere.

CESIE as one of the partners will assist partners by providing support in the analysis of the current situation and gender balance in the field of aeronautic engineering. As part of the project we will carry out a community outreach through production of 3 awareness raising videos, a case studies report on successful women in the field. Apart from that CESIE will promote an Open Day, conduct Mentoring Field trip to 15 higher education female students who will have the opportunity to see the real work done in the field, talk to Human Resource Managers of the companies working in the field of aeronautic in order to understand the requests of the market, about existing challenges and opportunities in the industry, and 2 Technological Clinics for 30 secondary and higher education female students with the researches in the field to debate about the future career, and discuss research as a future job for women. All of the activities are intended to increase the interest of young women in scientific courses and career.

At the present moment partners are working on the analysis of the current situation by carrying out a desk based research and assessing the representation of women, studying and working in Aeronautical Industry, which will lead to the data collection through questionnaires among University professors, secondary and higher education female students and human resource managers in the field. The result of the activity will be a comprehensive report on the current situation in 6 partner countries.

All the results of the project, including the visibility and project materials will be presented at the Final Conference in September, 2015.
