The European Commission, as stated on its white paper on sports “actively supports actions promoting social inclusion through sport”, giving importance to the role of sports in the field of social inclusion, integration and equal opportunities.
The partners of the ATHLISI project coming from Italy, Malta, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Greece will develop training materials to coaches and sport clubs giving them the opportunity to work for the social inclusion of children of disadvantaged social groups. The project is divided in different phases in which some of them were developed by the partners of the project that had the opportunity to meet each other in Cyprus the 25th and the 26th of September to discuss in particular about the results of the research conducted at national level.
The results of the project showed the presence of the sport clubs in the national countries involved in the project and what kind of abilities and skills coaches should acquire to work with children. After this research the partners will develop a comparative report on the basis of the research developed at national level. The results of this report will help to develop a training course both online and face to face addressed to coaches that will have the opportunity to learn and to deepen some social topics related to sport.
ATHLISI – Promotion of social integration through the training of the coaches and sport clubs – is a project cofounded by the Erasmus+ sport: Support to Collaborative Partnership, that wants to promote the social inclusion of disadvantaged target groups in sport and to promote equal access to sport for everyone independently from their socioeconomic background.
