The Euro-Mediterranean Network for Youth Trafficking Prevention (EMNYTP), from the 14TH of April (arrival) to the 21ST of 2011 (departure), in Thessaloniki, Greece, is a CITY ZEN training course which does not require any age limits.
Providing opportunities for safe migration as an alternative to human trafficking and other types of risk migration, is a serious task, requiring a human rights based approach to migration and active participation of all European Citizens.
Poverty and social exclusion are still the main push factors for risk migrations accruing both internally (within Europe) and externally (from and to Europe). European statistics show that each year thousands of Europeans undertake serious risk migrations, pushed by lack of opportunities for realization in their home places. Another large group of non-Europeans is constantly making efforts to reach Europe, often taking a life-threatening risk. Social integration remains a challenge in many European societies.
This international project will focus on the opportunities that the youth active citizenship and voluntary work provide to prevent risk migration, protect the vulnerable children and young people and build a “Europe of Safe Migration”.
Fifty representatives of civil society organizations from Greece, Portugal, Italy, Romania, France, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Sweden, experienced in prevention of risk migration and child rights protection. While debating on easing migration services and policies, participants will explore various good practices, already implemented by the partners. Specific attention will be put on piloting innovative methods for fostering youth active citizenship and volunteering.
The methodology of the project includes: In-country research on the problems of the international meeting in order to prepare participants for the international conference.
Seven days International conference in Greece with 50 participants that will be the base for the Web-site development, publication of project results among which there will be DVD with all project materials.
The training course will give you the chance to have a full experience of Thessaloniki, the most active city of Greece.
The participants has to contribute with a participation fee of 30€. The organization will cover the 70% of the travel costs.
