I giovani parlano con l’Europa: valorising cultural diversity by promoting active citizenship

I giovani parlano con l’Europa is a project aimed at enhancing and promoting active citizenship within the social and cultural contexts of the beneficiaries, i.e. migrant and local youth, and raising their awareness of the opportunities the European Commission offers.

The project activities aim at involving youngsters living in Palermo, who will discuss and analyse several issues, have fun together with their peers and learn more about being and feeling active citizens through first-hand experiences.

In November and December 2017, CESIE will deliver the first cycle of workshops, targeted at Italian and migrant youngsters living in Palermo.

During the workshops, the youths will have the opportunity to explore several entwined issues and debate on the following topic:

• geography and European cultures;
• interfaith dialogue;
• social inclusion;
• active citizenship;
• career planning;
• competences, soft skills and the demands of the labour markets.

In order to facilitate the discussion, a cultural mediator will also take part in the workshops, so as to help participants convey their ideas in English or French, if needed.

Upon completion of the first cycle, participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

The workshops will be held at CESIE, in via Roma 94 (Palermo), from 10:30 to 12:30, according to the following schedule:

 First workshop: Tuesday, November 14^th, 2017

1. Second workshop: Thursday, November 16^th, 2017
2. Third workshop: Tuesday, November 21^st, 2017
3. Fourth workshop: Tuesday, November 28^th, 2017
4. Fifth workshop: Thursday, December 7^th, 2017
5. Sixth workshop: Tuesday, December 12^th, 2017

I giovani parlano con l’Europa is co-funded by “Giovani per il Sociale”, an initiative promoted by the Department of Youth and National Civic Service – Presidency of the Council of Ministers (Italy).

The project involves three partners:

• ENGIM internazionale;
• CESIE.
