You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.
André Gide
Do you know that the European Commission can help you pursuing your dream of travelling, working, being a volunteer and discovering new oceans?
I giovani parlano con l’Europa is a project aimed at promoting the opportunities the European Commission offers to young people. Moreover, it strives to foster active citizenship by setting up learning and educational activities targeted at youngsters.
The project partners are working to achieve the goals they have set, i.e.:
- valorising cultural diversity and promoting intecultural dialogue
- creating better connections between migrant and local youths to allow them to share experiences and ideas;
- spreading new technologies to operate at a social and professional level;
- promoting active citizenship and allowing people to become familiar with the tools created by the European Commission;
- fostering social inclusion.
The project learning and educational activities are targeted at young people. Several pop-up information offices will be located near the main educational institutions and squares of Palermo so as to promote active citizenship by introducing all the opportunities offered to young people.
Moreover, we plan to deliver several workshops on the same topic and collaborate with schools in Palermo area to raise awareness of these issues.
The project activities will foster values such as common initiatives, volunteering and taking care of public spaces and property by promoting real volunteering activities such as cleaning several public spaces, in order to give them back to the local community. Panels, film clubs and photography and short film contests are some of the participative events aimed at fostering dialogue and promoting active citizenship.
All the activities will be carried out using non-formal methods, which will help participant interact, develop new skills, share knowledge, experiences, opinions, and values.
The project website features all the information you need to keep yourself informed on our activities and learn more about the opportunities targeted at youngsters, such as local events and initiatives or mobility experiences promoted by the European Commission.
