EAGLES was launched: enhancing employability through positive emotions and resilienceEAGLES – Empowering and Activating the young Generation through the Learning of Employability skills Kick-Off meeting took place on the 8th of April, 2016  hosted by the project coordinator GRANTXPERT CONSULTING LIMITED from Cyprus.

CESIE has participated in the KOM with the other project’s partners: ICEP Europe / Profexcel.Net Ltd (Ireland); Neophytos Ch. Charalambous (Institute of Development) Ltd (Cyprus); and Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Greece).

The EAGLES project, (co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth) aims to tackle youth unemployment by developing important employability skills to young job seekers in combination with positive emotions, psychological resilience, optimism and self-esteem.

The EAGLES places emphasis on positive emotions and positive psychology that are crucial factors allowing individuals, societies and communities to thrive and flourish. It is agreed that positive emotions can broaden thoughts and enrich physical, psychological and social resources at the same time  enhancing young job seeker’s employability skills.

Within this framework, the EAGLES project aims to develop, test and release an educational tool for young job seekers combining positive psychology approach and existing employability/entrepreneurial educational tools. One trainer per each partner organisation will be trained on developed tools and methodologies who afterwards will test the educational tool with 10 Youth Workers in his/hers country. Training youth workers in Italy, Greece, Cyprus and UK will contribute to transferring the gained knowledge to young job seekers and provide support and guidance to them. It will assist youth organisations to enhance their practices and methods based on positive psychology approach.

During the 14 months of the EAGLES project, a series of outcomes will be achieved:

  • Needs analysis on employability skills.
  • Educational EAGLES training package and the manual how to use it.
  • EAGLES online training platform including all the developed materials and relevant resources.

The next phase of the EAGLES project is aimed at finding out what are the main skills that young job seekers need to acquire / and what are the skills employers require from their employees. This will be done by reviewing relevant articles, presenting current statistical information as well as interviewing young unemployed people and employers in each partner country.

The next partnership meeting will be held in September in Ireland hosted by ICEP Europe, and the Train the trainer workshop will be help in October in Cyprus.
