CESIE organised a series of workshops addressed to educators and parents within the project POLYGLOT Multilingual education in preschool age, aiming to promote language learning from an early age through the use of Open Educational Resources (OERs) on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
The workshops were held in Ubuntu, a multicultural kindergarten in Palermo city centre, whose educators were involved in the first piloting phase of the project aimed at testing the guidelines and the guides for educators and parents, that will be used for the online course to be soon made available on Moodle. During the workshops, and especially the second session, the educators tested some of the activities offered by the selected resources (e.g. flashcards), contained in the guide, that can be used to promote language learning with children.
The participants were supported by a facilitator, and during the final session they were asked to give a feedback.
Moreover, CESIE participated in the “ Family day” that took place in the Valdese Institute “La Noce” on 14th of May, during which many parents attending were informed about the POLYGLOT project, and they showed a deep interest in the online course, aimed at easing the acquisition of a second language in children.
At the same time, the partners are working on the first version of the online courses for parents and teachers, which will be launched soon on Moodle.
