From the 12th to the 15th of March 2015 the kick-off meeting of “Gender equality through global capacity building” took place in Nijmegen (Holland); the project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 2 – Capacity Building in the field of youth), involves 3 European organisations (KID PiNA from Slovenia –project coordinator, CESIE from Italy, De Lindenberg from Holland) and 3 African organisations (Tycen from Tanzania, Capec from Cameron, KYDA from Kenya). The project aims at exchanging good practices in the field of young women empowerment and non-formal education and promoting gender equality by acquiring competences and by using multimedia.
After having presented local needs on the project theme, during the meeting the 6 local coordinators planned several activities, both local and transnational, foreseen in the 18 months of the project; especially women and local organisations dealing with women’s social inclusion will be involved in the activities.
Each partner will set up a local group of volunteers that will develop and take part in 6 local workshops, 1 conference on gender equality and women empowerment, 1 campaign on gender equality and women empowerment, 1 national seminar on women and multimedia/ICT, 1 local forum on gender equality.
Furthermore, there will be several type of international mobility. The first one will be in June 2015; 36 youths from the 6 partner countries will take part in a training course on women, media and responsible journalism. In autumn a staff of each organisation will do a 3-weeks study visit in another partner country. For each organisation it will be a great opportunity to exchange good practice on gender and mobility field. In the beginning of the 2016, 8 youths involved in the local activities will do a 2-month EVS (European Voluntary Service) in the partner countries.
The project will end with a final meeting in Cameroon in May 2016, where each local coordinator will show the project local activities and the impact on local community and the young volunteers involved in the project. Finally it will be finalized a Guidelines on EVS and Youth Mobility of women, practical result of the mobility activities.
