On the 1st of June 2013 the activities of PANGEA – Volunteering for connecting continents have been launched. This is a project of the European Voluntary Service and the Youth in action programme financed by the European Commission.
PANGEA is a world-wide EVS project that involves 27 European volunteers from Italy, France, Hungary and Spain which are committed in activities of volunteering for a six months period. In addition to this, three volunteers from Nepal, Senegal and Cameroon will be volunteering in Palermo for 10 months.
The first group of volunteers left for the association called Jeunesse an Action –GNO FAR in Ziguinchor, Senegal; and it created different activities that involve children and young people in artistic workshops about music, computer and reading support. Volunteers will also be involved in non- formal education projects within local schools developing awareness campaigns, networking opportunities at local, regional and international level and easing initiatives of microcredit and intercultural dialogue.
It will be an unique opportunity for volunteers who will improve their skills, overcome their limitations and contribute to the development of the host organization and the local community.
