PALERMO against trafficking in human beings: Awareness-raising activities and information campaigns for Palermo’s citizenship

Palermo non trattaThe City of Palermo, the Regional Education Office of Sicily and the Anti-trafficking Network of Palermo “Favour and Loveth” are organizing an event to celebrate the EU Anti-trafficking day this Tuesday the 19th of November 2013 at 09.30 am at the “Aula Consiliare” of the Municipality of Palermo.

The anti-trafficking day is part of the City of Palermo’s attempt to create an intercultural society, promoting the principles of legality, as opposed to new forms of slavery that are managed by international mafias.

This event is mainly addressed at raising awareness and training amongst school children on the need to combat trafficking. The conference will also aim at involving journalists, inasmuch as they are the first and foremost promoters in society, together with foreign citizens, of the fight against exclusion, social marginalization, racism, discrimination and new forms of slavery.
