What is open data? What are the benefits and challenges associated with bringing digital into schools? Especially in recent years, the issues of digital well-being and distance learning have been at the centre of many debates. The D3 – Developing Digital Data literacy project has tried to answer these questions, providing secondary school teachers with the right tools to deal with digital literacy in the classroom.

On February the 26th, CESIE organized the final event to celebrate the conclusion of the Erasmus+ D3 – Developing Digital Data literacy at the Istituto Istruzione Superiore Einaudi Pareto.

The event was attended by secondary school teachers interested in deepening the theme of open data in schools, and by teachers and students who had been personally involved in the D3 project.

CESIE introduced the topic of open data and blended learning, focusing both on their advantages and challenges, and encouraging the participants to express their opinions on this subject.

Later, by exploring together the D3 website, the resources developed by the project were shown:

Regarding the gallery of case studies, during the event one of the classes that took part in this activity had the chance to present its project and to show the resources developed.

The students were supported by their teachers who outlined the initiatives of the Istituto Einaudi Pareto  within the context of open data and the collaboration with the programme A Scuola di Open Coesione (ASOC), an innovative educational path aimed at promoting principles of active and aware citizenship in Italian schools.

An ASOC representative virtually participated in the event, congratulating the students for the results achieved and  underlining once again the importance of educating about the proper use of digital resources. Lastly, additional resources and training opportunities for increasingly digital teaching were presented, exploiting the opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas on the use of open data in the school environment.
