Palermo non tratta

SILENCE IS COLLUSION, LET’S RAISE OUR VOICES!

ONCE AGAIN, A WOMAN DIED AMIDST THE INDIFFERENCE OF PEOPLE

On 15th of December 2014, at 7 p.m., a local demonstration will start off at the Parish of S. Antonino, on Corso Tukory 2, near the Central Station of Palermo and arrive in Via Lincoln.

Just like Favour, Loveth and Bose, young Nigerian women died between 2011 and 2013, Fouzia, a young Moroccan woman, tragically died on the streets of Palermo (Via Lincoln) at the age of 38, on the 3rd of November 2014.

Violence against women is a transversal problem that exists in all cultures and in all geographic areas of the world. Since 2005, over 1000 women have been killed in Italy alone. Every two days a woman is killed by a man.

In Europe, one out of three women suffers violence. According to UN data, the major cause of death amongst women killed by men is the partner or former partner of women.

Moreover, there is a hidden data concerning all those migrant women living in Italy and who are “invisible” victims of physical and psychological violence, harassment, stalking, sexual exploitation and femminicide.

Silence on this situation equals collusion.

We say stop! We need to break this silence!
