school-on-cloudCESIE is part of ICT Network, created in the framework of the project “School on the Cloud – Connecting Education to the Cloud for Digital Citizenship (SoC), co-funded by LLP Programme Action AC3 Multilateral Network. The project aims at exploring new dynamic ways in education and at promoting Cloud initiatives in public and private sectors.

The Network works towards analyzing the way education might answer to the newest ICT developments, which are rapidly transforming our society and the labor market, and towards diffusing the opportunities arising from these powerful technologies. The network consists of 57 European partners that operate in different educational sectors, they represent 18 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom,) and it features 10 schools, 21 universities, companies, NGOs, National Authorities, research centers, associations and VET actors.

The project was launched in January and it will last 36 months. A Greek school, Doukas School, is the project coordinator.

The first European summit, Education on the Cloud, and the first project meeting took place in Athens, on March 22nd  and 23rd . The summit was an important opportunity to present the report compiled by the Network, concerning the “State of the Art” of Cloud Computing in the education systems of all the partner countries. Besides the plenary session on the first day, different workshops about Cloud Computing related issues were organised. The first project meeting was held – instead – on the second day, when the four working groups have been presented and network members have been divided up in groups that will implement the project activities. The first group would analyse different leadership and management aspects of those education agencies that would decide to exploit Cloud Computing technologies; the second group would be in charge of exploring Cloud computing impact on the role of teachers and teachers’ trainers. The third group would deal with personalized learning and digital functions offered by Cloud; CESIE makes part of the fourth group that would explore future scenarios for the usage of Cloud systems in education and training.
