On September 27th , at 11:00 p.m., in Coritle Barcellona, on the corner of Via Filippo Juvara, and then at the entrance of Parco dell Favorita, next to Viale Rocca, the Mayor of Palermo unveils two plate memorials in honor of Favor and Loveth, two young Nigerian victims of women trafficking.
Favor was 20 years old and with the dream to get married with the love she had just begun to live together with, when she was killed by one of her violent clients who, after having raped and murdered her, he also burnt her body before throwing it away in a garbage dump of Misilmeri. Barely two months later, Loveth, same age of Favor, follows the latter in the same tragic fate: was found death, beside the garbage bins, in the centre of Palermo, in Via Filippo Juvara.
The Social Group called, in the name of the two girls, “Favour e Loveth”, and that found in their stories the starting point for its commitment to increasing awareness among the Palermitan citizens, is delighted to solemnly commemorate the two girls, in the presence of the First Citizen and of the Nigerian Community. The whole citizenry is warmly invited.
With the two plates, placed where their two young lives have blown in the wind, we would like to offer a “ memory of love”.
A material remembrance with would bring the omen of love for life, beauty and of the hope of a better life.
A “ memory of love” that the city would like to offer to the poor girls, to the Nigerian Community, and to all the girls who are victims of violence and human trafficking: fruit of the powerful Mafioso Nigerian organizations.
The “memory of love” is symbolized by a rose for Loveth, and a ballon for Favour. It is our token for the future; that same future denied to those two poor girls, but that we would like to give to all the women victims of trafficking.
