hattickFew weeks ago an international meeting of the project “Hattrick” took place in Palermo.

“Hattrick” is a English world that means triplet; in fact this project focuses on 3 objectives: Systematically expanding transversal competences of young male migrants or young male adults who are socio-economically disadvantaged, acquired in football – needed in professional life; Opening a new informal pathway to education by exploring football clubs as new places of learning; Engaging disadvantaged young men in lifelong learning.

A two-fold training strategy is carrying out: Hattrick will develop and test “FootbaLLL” (Football and LifeLong Learning) workshops for 15-25 year old migrant football players; Enable football trainers to support their players in the process of integration into LifeLong Learning. To qualify them, a training programme called “FootbaLLL Coach” will be developed.

From 10th to 12th June, European partners from Austria, Germany, Netherlands, France, Bulgaria and England, attended a meeting “Hattick” in Palermo, at the same time of the” Mediterranean Antiracist event”, a sporting event that took place in Palermo and involved more of 100 football teams (this year there was also volleyball, cricket, basketball) from all districts of Palermo, organizing a tournament Antiracist.

The European partners have participated in the Anti-Racist Mediterranean, participating in football anti-racism “, and disseminating the project “Hattrick” through brochures and fliers.

It was a moment of fertilization with the awareness that sport unites all people of the world and therefore it is an important tool to promote such values as mutual respect, sharing, acceptance and enhancement of every type of differences.
