From March 9th to 12th, CESIE took part in a series of awareness-raising seminars which took place at the Ramada Plaza Gammarth Hotel in Tunis, in the framework of the project TATRAC – Tissu Associatif et Transfert de Connaissance, co-funded by the ENPI programme – Cross-border cooperation Italy-Tunisia 2007-2013.
The project TATRAC aims at enhancing the role of associations within the national innovation system in Tunisia, by transferring the know-how from well-established associations operating in Sicily, with a view to improve services and appraise research.
The seminars were attended by all project partners from Tunisia and Sicily, as well as by a number of representatives of Tunisian associations working across different sectors, representing the ultimate addressees of the training activities and transfer of knowledge envisaged within the project.
During the first day, after an introduction about the progress of activities and the next steps to take made by Agence Nationale de Promotion de la Recherche, coordinator of the project, the three Sicilian partners, CESIE, University of Catania and SOGEVI, presented the results of the research and selection of some local associations that will be involved in the visits to be held in Sicily in late spring 2015. The associations, which were selected within the three action fields of the Sicilian partners (education/culture, environment/renewable energy, food farming/fishery) will guide the Tunisian associations in the acquisition of good practices and new competences, by transferring new knowledge and innovative methodologies.
During the following days, a number of awareness-raising sessions were delivered, addressing a wide range of themes, namely health and medical research, safeguard of artistic and architectural heritage, water resource management, economics, research and innovation, environmental crisis and food farming technologies. In this occasion, CESIE presented its work and the results achieved within its research and innovation projects, and thanks to the cooperation with higher education institutions and universities, providing an overview of some of the new opportunities arisen under the new EU programming period 2014-2020.
