A new training cycle is about to start, specifically designed for professionals working in reception and inclusion services. The program focuses on rights, inclusive language, and best practices in supporting LGBTQIA+ migrants and SOGIESC asylum seekers and refugees.

This free, fully online training is promoted by CESIE ETS and ANCI Sicilia as part of the European project @NCLUSION. It targets social workers and professionals primarily based in Sicily, but is open to anyone working in the migration field and interested in deepening their understanding of these issues.

The training consists of three sessions, each lasting three hours, scheduled between June and July 2025. The sessions will provide not only learning opportunities but also a space for discussion and exchange among professionals. Each session will be led by experts in legal, social, and cultural fields.

Topics covered will include:

  • Inclusive language and respect for diverse identities.
  • The rights of LGBTQIA+ and SOGIESC asylum seekers and refugees in Italian and international law.
  • Challenges faced by these individuals during migration journeys and in reception services.
  • Best practices for creating safe spaces and building trust-based relationships.

This training is based on the awareness that working with LGBTQIA+ migrants involves unique and complex challenges. These individuals often face a double layer of vulnerability, marked by discrimination and the risk of invisibility. Acquiring appropriate tools, respectful language, and effective strategies is essential to ensure truly inclusive support.
