Mauro Alifano, a young entrepreneur from Sicily, has been involved in an exchange with the Host entrepreneur Marco Scappa who is running his company Makoswater Oü in Estonia. During almost 6 months of exchange, Mauro learned how to create sales business strategies and develop future customer sales, marketing tools and organise product launching.

CESIE, being Mauro’s Intermediary organization within the framework of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme and through the project StartUp – Start, run and grow your business, is glad to share Mauro’s experience and reflections with you.

You need to be brave, you need ambition, courage and plenty of luck in order to put yourself out of the middle of the crisis. Even these sometimes are not enough, because most of the times the ideas young people have cannot be realized due to extreme costs and regulations in their own country.

On the contrary, thanks to EYE, I was able to find the necessary push and enthusiasm to undertake an entrepreneurial project through a new approach and an international vision that gives an added value to my future business.

Going to Estonia was a wise choice and it turned out to be a big success. There I immediately found a deep attention from Estonian people towards new foreigner business ideas providing investments in their country; all supported by little bureaucracy, a good IT development and good English skills.

With the Host Entrepreneur we have been on the same page since the first day and we could successfully achieve all the planned objectives month by month. The regard and respect we had for each other led me to elaborate new business ideas that the Host Entrepreneur accepted and that have been successfully implemented.

Performing my tasks, the new contacts network was established and the new skills were acquired; the environment was such a factory for new ideas that I abandoned my first business idea and I created a new one with the HE so that I have decided to continue my stay in Estonia.

I think that EYE is an excellent entrepreneurs incubator which in my opinion meets the need of efficiency of the Italian Universities which do not support properly young people’s ideas from an economic or methodological point of view.

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme which gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other Participating Countries.
