Partners in ouRoute attended the 3rd online meeting (June 29-30, 2020) to discuss the last results from the research phases and discovering activities led by the Consortium and referring to the “intangible” cultural heritage in Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Before the coronavirus crisis, our young “ouRouters” from partner schools had the opportunity to meet local stakeholders from the recreative and cultural sector so to investigate old and new arts from their local community. Schools, supported by ouRoute scientific partners and representative local public authorities, investigated different expressions and forms of “intangible” culture including art, music and more in general, local customs and folklore. In addition, from the desk analysis conducted by the scientific partners in ouRoute (CESIE, INOVA+ and Universidad de Murcia), we highlighted that several initiatives have been taken in this sense and today schools include more and more theoretical and practical activities in the artistic, musical, theatrical, archaeological and artistic-historical level for their students.

From September 2020, new 25 students (75 in total for all the Consortium) will have the same opportunity, as their peers before, to:

  • carry out some laboratories about culture and referring to the UNESCO World Heritage in Palermo, Braga and Murcia;
  • organise some study visits to (re)discover local cultural heritage by meeting local stakeholders;
  • conduct some interviews and focus groups with local craftmen, including some artisans, to collect information about local crafts and resume all data collected in the Local Mapping of old & new arts & crafts as final product to be delivered by students

To conclude, in ouRoute,  cultural heritage is something that need to be preserved and guaranteed as well for the old as for the new generations. That’s why there is a common responsibility to look after it and our young ouRouters are conscious of that and very curious to know more!
