How to build more inclusive school communities? Is it possible to apply participatory approach to school?

On 7th and 8th March we attended the first SOCI@LL partner meeting in Porto (Portugal).

The project aims at fostering social inclusion and multicultural learning using a participatory approach.

Schools, local public authorities, and civil society organizations will cooperate in order to create inclusive educative communities. They will be at the same time the co-creators of a positive change that aims at creating social labs at local and European level, through the upcoming virtual SOCI@LL platform!

Through a participative and fully inclusive approach, we will prepare resources for both teachers and public authorities, such as:

  • SOCI@LL roadmap, a strategic plan for the creation of inclusive education systems inside and outside schools and containing the state of play, best practices, strategy, action plan and recommendations based in the results of research;
  • Virtual Social Lab to foster and support cross-sectorial relations at local and European level as well as creating real inclusive and participatory learning opportunities, supported by the innovative resources developed;
  • toolkit for school leaders and for teachers to support the creation and sustainability of culturally sensitive and inclusive educative assets;
  • manual for local authorities to support them into the creation of cross-sectorial platforms for social inclusion.

The next project meeting will be in Cyprus on October 2018 to plan the future project activities.
