WECE: e-participation trainings for young people and politiciansFrom the 5th to the 7th April 2016 the second Partnership Meeting and “Training for Trainers” of “WE all Count – Europe” project took place in Innsbruck (Austria). The project is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme – Key Action 3 Support for Policy Reform and it is aimed at:

  • promoting e-participation as a tool to improve the dialogue between policy makers and young citizens;
  • improving transparency and political efficacy;
  • disseminating project results at European level.

During the meeting hosted by the Chief Training partner Verein Multikulturell was presented the first version on the “Guide for the open government and e-participation trainings”, developed in collaboration with CESIE and Social Innovation Fund. The project partners discussed more in depth the training programmes included in the Guide and received the “Training for trainers” in order to gain knowledge on how to conduct training activities for policy makers and young citizens at local level on the topics addressed by the project.

Training for Politicians started in each project country, in the five cities identified by the partners to develop the experiment, and soon Training for Citizens will be implement as well. Palermo is the city selected by CESIE to host the experience. Both trainings cover several topics: key concepts such as active participation, democracy, rules for debating are discussed and the use of the Kuorum.org e-platform introduced.

The e-platform is central to the project and it is the virtual place where to share and discuss on-line political proposals between politicians and citizens. At the end of the trainings, a third event will be planned to bring the on-line discussion on face to face level. In this occasion, active members of the e-platform will meet together to share impressions on the experience and discuss a call to action. During the process, the University of Constance will evaluate the political efficacy, through surveys addressed to the participants, and will elaborate recommendations that will help improve the second experience in 2017.
