From the 22nd to the 27th of March, 2015, in Palermo, a group of four Swedish teachers has participated to the mobility project “Education for (E)U”, financed by the program Erasmus+ – Mobility of learners and staff, with the aim to see Italian teachers in action, to get to know their teaching and communication methods towards their students.

They participated to some lessons in different schools of Palermo, such as an Artistic High School (Istituto d’Arte Ragusa e Kiyohara), an High School focusing on Humanities (Liceo Classico Vittorio Emanuele), a Vocational School focusing on Hotel Industry (IPSSAR BORSELLINO) and an European High School (Liceo Europeo Maria Adelaide). In these schools they attended lessons of English, Italian, Economy and Law. The Job-shadowing allowed them to get to know the educational methods used for students aged 16 to 19, and their different social and cultural background.

Below you find the comments of Italian teachers of some of the schools involved:

It was an exciting experience. (…) The guys were wonderful and the foreign colleagues have expressed their enthusiasm openly. Initial fears were replaced by an important educational experience, which honestly I was not expecting.

(Maurizio Scalia – IPSSAR Borsellino)

It was a beautiful and stimulating experience. (…) The guys collaborated with enthusiasm. (…) I’ve been teaching for 26 years and such experiences give me adrenaline from which our work can benefit..

(Ettore Di Giovanni – IPSSAR Borsellino)

…it has been an important professional opportunity that allowed a constructive comparison and considerations about the educational didactic. But also from a human point of view as the kindness and care of the Swedish and CESIE’s colleagues.

(Margherita Giambalvo – Istituto d’Arte Ragusa e Kiyohara –
Liceo Classico Vittorio Emanuele)

More over the Swedish teachers took part in a Reciprocal Maieutic Approach Session at the Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci, and they got to know the work of biological cultivation of the cooperative Liberamente.
