The European partners of the LION – Learning, lIving, wOrking for Neet-group project met in Doncaster between the 5th and the 7th of November 2014.
LION is a project financed by the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme framework – Grundtvig Multilateral Project.
The project developed a series of strategies regarding an holistic approach for social workers and teachers working with NEET young people (Not in Employment, Education or Training).
In line with the Europe 2020 growth strategy and the European Employment Strategy, adopted by EU leaders in June 2010, this project underlines the need for a multi-angle integrated focus on the disadvantaged young person at risk of educational and societal drop-out.
The main target groups of the LION project are teachers, trainers, and coaches who are engaged in courses with disadvantaged young people, especially early school leavers in adult and Second Chance education.
During the meeting, the 6th of November at Doncaster College was held an International conference about an integrative employability approach. This one-day conference brought together policy makers and practitioners involved in the triangle of learning, living, and working with NEET group to share best practice, network, and gain a first-hand view of the tools developed during the LION project in order to support these professionals.
