Along with CSC Danilo Dolci, CESIE would like to show and confirm its support to Don Luigi Ciotti’s fights against mafias, after he has been severely threatened by the boss Salvatore Riina.
Father Luigi Ciotti and CESIE share the same path, stated by common projects and collaborations, which nowadays appear even more significant and important, in contrast to such targeted and intimidating threats. Since only “togetherness can oppose Mafia and corruption”, as the remarkable priest has affirmed. On Danilo Dolci’s 90th birth anniversary CESIE and the president of Libera had the opportunity to strengthen once again their cooperation. In fact Father Ciotti had expressed his desire to visit Borgo di Dio in Trappeto, which has been recently reopened thanks to a project carried out by Fondazione con il Sud, featuring the participation of Centro per lo Sviluppo Creativo Danilo Dolci, CESIE, Libera Palermo and Comune di Trappeto.
«We would like to express our solidarity and empathy with Don Ciotti and all the people who participate in Libera activities, with whom we have been walking the same path towards legality and social liberation. Since both legality and social liberation cannot be achieved, unless we commit ourselves to fight against Mafia» declared CESIE President, Vito La Fata. He also added «We are proud to share the same values and nonviolent practices as Father Ciotti, an intimate communion which started many years ago, along with the fruitful relationship between him and Danilo Dolci».
