On May 2013 the SOcial Networks for Local Empowerment (SOLE) project finished with the publication of the SOLE Guide called The do-it-yourself Europe: A Practical Guide to Project building and Management … but is at the eve of new thrilling experiences.
SOLE, co-financed with the support of the action 1.2.2 of the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Commission, intended to reduce the gap between local public entities and civil society organisations with no or few experience at transnational level and European institutions. When targeting such organisations, we aspired to provide them accurate tools to act at European scale. The final result is the SOLE Guide which has been published in 10 different languages! Digital and hard copies are available in: English, Italian, Danish-English, French, Latvian, Macedonian, Romanian, Slovenian and Slovak.
The Guide has been specifically designed by the partnership and participants of the project for people and organisations who have no experience in European projects, and deals with all aspects from the conception and writing stage to practical implementation. Besides, it was important for us to tackle transversal topics, such as intercultural issues or the potential that social networks offer.
One essential goal of SOLE was to lay down the foundation for a strong cooperation network among all organisations involved. That is why we always insisted on online tools and social networks, as links generators and as ways to provide relevant resources. SOLE wants to be the starting point of rich and effective future collaborations. Through the project partners, new local organisations have been reached, and have been progressively involved into transnational projects.
Our strongest wish is that the SOLE guide and SOLE network become complementary tools for a cascade effect.
