Language of the Workshop: English
Who can apply: priority will be given to people who have left school early with few or no qualifications and who want a second chance at learning
Priority will be given to older learners (aged 30+ years)
People interested in story-telling and who enjoy exploring history, traditions and culture
Expected number of participants: 15
Main activities / programme of the Workshop:
On arrival orientation: cultural activities, team-building and communication activities
The history of story-telling, sharing the stories we grew up with in our childhood and exploring folklore tales which are similar across Europe
Exploring the different ways of story-telling e.g. VISUAL (art and drama) and ORAL (oratories, poetry, song and music)
Visits to local folk festival and cultural activities including folk music, Morris Dancing, stories through folk art, etc.
Daily reflection and evaluation of what you have learned
Workshop Methods:
The emphasis is on fun, interactive and practical learning in a very relaxed atmosphere. Everyone will have ideas to share so we can all be learn from each other, especially about our cultures ☺
Practical arrangements:
If you are selected, we will work together with you to organise your travel and insurance – you will pay for the flights and insurance, and we will refund your costs, in cash, at the workshop (you must have written approval from us regarding the travel costs BEFORE you book your flights!)
We will organise and pay for participants to stay at a local hotel in shared, single-sex, twin bedrooms
We will organise and pay for all meals, visits, local transport, tuition and resources/materials
