CESIE is pleased to present the first newsletter for the project VALLEY – Validation System for Lifelong Learning Experiences of Youth Volunteering, which describes the progress made since its inception in March 2015. VALLEY is a two year project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth.
VALLEY aims to enhance the learning dimension of volunteering work through the development of a new approach to promote volunteering among young people as a resource of personal empowerment and to validate skills and competences developed during their volunteering experience.
Important steps have been the creation of a list of competences that volunteers acquire during their volunteering service to be adapted to the VALLEY methodology, comprehensive research activities which included the launch of an online survey among volunteering organisations and (ex) volunteers and interviews with volunteering organisations, volunteers and stakeholders to gain better knowledge on the experiences and opinions concerning recognition and validation of learning outcomes gained through volunteering.
