The work-in-progress platform for VALLEY is tested through a pilot assessment with a group of young volunteers in each partner country.
In Italy, the first meeting of the piloting group regarding the LEVEL5 evaluation was held with a group of youngsters, who have just started their volunteering at CESIE and local centres in Palermo.
LEVEL5 validation methodology – What is it?
- LEVEL5 system is specifically designed to validate personal, social and organisational competence developments in rather non-formal and informal learning settings;
- LEVEL5 facilitates the assessment, visualisation and evidence based on the validation of competences;
- LEVEL5 is based on a three-dimensional model that visualises the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes.
The implementation of the LEVEL5 validation is done at two crucial time of the volunteering period, thus a first evaluation of the competences is foreseen at the beginning of the volunteering, and then a second evaluation at the end.
The group a volunteers has met for the first meeting and has worked on this validation through group and self-reflection activities.
In a first part, through the 16 competences settled by the partnership related to volunteering, each volunteers choose the competences by answering at the following question : Which competences do you think important for your future and/or you would like to learn more about ?
Then, the volunteers have valuated the competences chosen based on the three dimension: knowledge, skills and attitudes. For each dimension, they read the level’s description of the Reference system document and position themselves from 1 to 5.
At the end of their volunteering, they will do the second evaluation’s meeting and evaluate the same competences and get a certificate describing the improvement of the competences acquired.
