PLACE: EVS in China, India and NepalCESIE is looking for 6 Italian youngsters (18-30 years old, preferably living in the area of Palermo) for an European Voluntary Service (EVS) in Asia within the international project “Planting Cities” (PLACE).

Short description of the project PLACE

The project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ (Key Action 2 – capacity building in the field of Youth), aims at promoting the use of urban gardening as a mean of social inclusion. After the international training course held in Palermo last October, the project foresees a new type of mobility, such the EVS: totally 20 youngsters from Italy, Slovenia, India, China and Nepal will have the opportunity to live an intercultural experience in one of the project countries.

Duration of the EVS

5 months, from March to July 2016.

Where and hosting organizations

EVS activities

The 6 Italian volunteers (2 per country) will support educational and gardening activities for a total of 30/35 hours per week. The activities could be implemented at:

  • Office of the hosting organization
  • Schools, educational centers, local associations dealing with local youngsters
  • Urban garden and green areas

During the 5 months, the volunteers will organize and implement workshops and local events on gardening open to local community.

Costs covered by the project

The project covers food, accommodation, local transport expenses, VISA (up to 250 euro), vaccination (up to 150 euro) and medical insurance; moreover every month the volunteer will receive a pocket money for additional personal expenses. The travel costs (from/to Italy) will be covered up to 820 euro for India and Nepal and up to 1100 euro for China. At the beginning of the mobility, volunteer will follow a local language course.
