From the 23rd to 26th March 2013 will took place in Palermo the Final Event of the SOLE project Dissemination “Social Networks for the Local Empowerment”, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens program, action 1.2.2.
The project, which is targeting pubblic authorities and no-profit organizations with no experience at transnational level, aims to foster knowledge of all the tools necessary to allow them to work on a European scale, and lays the foundation to create a cooperation network among all the organizazions involved in the project, in order to decrease the gap between local bodies and the European Istitutions.
During this final event, 22 representatives of the International partnership will value the gained result and will plan the future actions. This one will end with the International Conference “Local authorities and EU: from the social networks to the participation on the network” (Tuesday 26th March 2013 from 10,00am to 1,00pm at the Modern Art Gallery of Palermo, in Via Sant’Anna, 21), addressed to all the local, public and private organizations, as well as the citizens interested in European Funds concerning the sectors of citizenship, education and culture. The CESIE and the other members of the partnership, together with representatives of the non-profit world, the Sicilian public authorities, will present the gained results, the “SOLE” Guide for the design and management of European projects for authorities with no transnational experience, that will be published in English, Italian and all the other languages of the partnership.
The success of SOLE
Often, organizations very active at local level are out from the European cooperation process, they are not aware of the opportunities offered by European Union at international scale, and although potentially capable of taking part in it, the lack of information and the right tools represents an almost insurmountable barrier. SOLE addressed to this kind of organizations, foste ring them the tools and the suitable knowledge to take part in the process of construction of European Citizenship.
Through an international training course, informative local events and collaborations between the partners, SOLE has contributed to:
- Spreading knowledge and information on the Europe for Citizens program (especially the action 1) in 10 European countries;
- Creating the “SOLE Network”, of real and effective support to 15 organizations with no transnational experience, to more than 125 people involved by the 11 partners of the project;
- Realizing the ““SOLE” Guide for the design and management of European projects for authorities with no transnational experience, which includes the needs, related to the knowledge and tools, of more than 40 representatives of the civil society and the local public authorities that have participated to the international training course;
- Creating a waterfall effect through the presentation of more than 10 new European projects by the members of the “SOLE Network”.
