Development, training, and inclusion for adults and seniors in local areas
The DIGINEXT project is charting an innovative path for digital inclusion in rural areas across Europe, engaging specific geographic regions within the six partner countries of the consortium. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide among low-skilled adults and older people by promoting active ageing and autonomy through the development of digital skills.

DIGINEXT has developed essential resources to support digital training in rural communities:
- DIGINEXT Training Course: An online program designed to enhance the digital skills of adults and older individuals.
- Trainer’s Manual: A practical guide for educators and facilitators, offering tools and methodologies for teaching digital skills.
- Comprehensive Handbook: A detailed resource that complements the course with educational content and practical exercises.
These materials have been designed to be easily adaptable to various local contexts, ensuring tangible impact in the communities involved.
Local expertise driving the project in Sicily
In Sicily, the success of DIGINEXT is also made possible thanks to the dedication of professionals acting as facilitators and mediators in the process of digital inclusion:
- Maurilio Caracci: Educator and Head of Marketing and Communication at GAL Elimos, he took part in the international DIGINEXT meeting and contributed to the design and promotion of training activities.
- Sonia Geraci: Digital expert and facilitator at GAL Madonie, she participated in the Athens meeting and will coordinate support and digital facilitation activities in the municipalities of Isnello and Collesano, ensuring effective implementation of the project’s resources at the local level.
Their work will ensure that the project materials are tailored to the specific needs of local communities, providing effective and accessible training.
Call for participation in the pilot activities
Starting in September, DIGINEXT will launch a series of pilot activities in the Palermo, Madonie, and Trapani areas. These local facilitation sessions and workshops are designed to strengthen the digital skills of adults and older people, using an intergenerational approach that fosters mutual learning and social cohesion.
We warmly invite GAL officers, educators, digital facilitators, and all interested adults and seniors to take part in these activities!
Your participation is essential to help build more connected and resilient rural communities.
