Harraga is an Arab word designating young people who are ready to put their whole life at stake to migrate, burning borders to create a new life.
RAGAZZI HARRAGA – Social inclusion processes for unaccompanied minors in Palermo aims to improve the reception system of unaccompanied minors by valuing their resources and potential, improving models facilitating the protection of children’s rights in Italy, providing youths with learning and professional opportunities and housing solutions.
Amongst its activities, Ragazzi Harraga promotes 5 different workshops, which will involve 240 minors and youngsters living in Palermo, so as to foster and support cooperation with local youths.
Thus, our workshops rely on gender and ethnic diversity. At the end of each workshop, participants will receive a skills portfolio.
Workshops are targeted at young men and women living in Palermo, both Italian and migrants, aged between 15 and 20.
As the end of the first cycle of workshops is approaching, we dare say it was an intense and fun learning experience for all the participants.
At the beginning of April 2018, we will deliver a second cycle of workshops.
Managed by CESIE, Libera Palermo e Nottedoro, the workshops will start according to the following schedule:
In Aprile 2018 applicants will have the opportunity to join:
- a dance workshop, which will be held every Tuesday in Santa Chiara, 14:30 to 17:30;
- a workshop on human rights and social cohesion, which will be held every Thursday in Santa Chiara, 10:15 to 13:15;
- an intercultural workshop that will take place every Friday at bottega n.3, Cantieri Culturali della Zisa, Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, 14:30 to 17:30.
