Comparing multidisciplinary experiences, operational approaches and innovative digital tools, developed at European and international level, to combat complex phenomena such as trafficking in human beings, online grooming, and other forms of violence and child exploitation. This was the focus of the two-day event organised in Athens by the Centre for Security Studies – KEMEA thanks to ASIT.
We took an active part in the initiative, involving Francesca Jossa Miragliotta, Maria Grazia Raimondi and Santina Geraci as Social Service Professionals, authorised to participate by the Department of Juvenile and Community Justice of Palermo and the President Avv. Serena Lombardo of the Juvenile Chamber ‘Orazio Campo’ of Palermo, invited to take part in the training exchange and simulations planned during the two days.
During the activities, the group of participants from Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland and Italy had the opportunity to test and evaluate four digital tools:
- FALKOR: a platform for managing investigative cases;
- CESAGRAM: a technological solution for combating online grooming;
- ALUNA and HEROES: mobile platforms and analysis modules for prevention and investigation.
The professionals involved participated with great enthusiasm and proactivity, offering valuable contributions during the practical simulations and the shared analysis of the tools. They highlighted the specificities and peculiarities of the Sicilian territorial context, enriching the comparison with European partners and fostering a constructive and multidisciplinary dialogue. Their open approach to experimentation and inter-institutional collaboration fostered a constructive and multidisciplinary dialogue.
The presence of professionals from different fields – social services, juvenile legal context, police forces and psychosocial professionals – clearly highlighted the importance of continuous and shared training. It emerged how crucial it is that all the people who work and deal with situations of vulnerability and risk in the juvenile field every day collaborate actively.
The participants’ contribution highlighted, once again, how crucial real multi-sectoral collaboration is to respond effectively to the needs of minors and to the specific challenges of the territories.
This experience is part of our wider commitment to promote training, cooperation and exchange at European level, with the aim of strengthening joint work between the juvenile justice system, social services, the educational world and civil society.
We are proud to have facilitated this participation and hope that it represents only the beginning of an increasingly solid collaboration with the Department for Juvenile and Community Justice and the Juvenile Chamber ‘Orazio Campo’ of Palermo. Together, we can build innovative and lasting solutions for the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, offering concrete and local answers, but fully integrated in a shared European context.
