I am Hassan, I am from Libya and I am 27 years old. I live in the center of Marineo in a field called Subarita which is half an hour by car from Palermo. I know about CESIE thanks to my tutor Maria Teresa. For two months, I participated in European Solidarity Corps programme carrying out solidarity projects in local communities in Palermo. These two months were very important for me and my personal carreer, I have supported associations that provides various services for those people who need help. I am very happy with my experience because I have had the opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills.
I got to know new cultures, new language and foods from different countries, including Sicilian dishes. I also enjoyed the activity very much because I met all the other volunteers with the same profiles as me. I felt useful during the activities and have always enjoyed helping other people. In addition to this, I had opportunities to participate in different workshops organised by CESIE. Those workshops were focused development of personal skills to find a job, creation of curriculum and preparing for a job interview, as well as using computers and writing emails. Thanks to the project, I met with other young people with different background, willing to work and learn what they don’t know. This gave us the opportunity to reflect on ourselves and share our emotions.
