Hello everyone, my name is Junior, I am 23 years old and I have lived in Palermo for 7 years. I did a two-month volunteer work at CESIE through European Solidarity Corps Project. I decided to participate in this project to learn new skills, meet new people and gain new experiences. My experience with CESIE helped me to know my skills. I worked in the local centres that promotes solidarity activities. The association deals with collecting, fixing and renovating objects, clothes and many other things to resell them in a solidarity market.
Thanks to the project, I learned new words in Italian, but also how to manage my time, how to work with new people and other transversal skills such as teamwork, creativity and respect for everyone. I’ve also become more confident about myself during this time.
Apart from that, I met nice people during the workshop with the CESIE facilitators, in which we worked on our soft skills, read a story, exchanged ideas and we also worked with the computer in order to improve our digital competences.
In addition to this, we also participated to the project about sport and importance of volunteering activities in sport. We talked about different types of sports, such as football and tennis, finding out what skills are needed, and we also played, we also discussed about importance of fair play in sport and our real life. I would recommend other young people to be proactive, get involved, listen and join such kind of project.
