Hello!
“Sharing solidarity was the reason I went to Palermo. I lived for two months with wonderful people from all over the world, experiencing short-term volunteer work in Sicily, which was one of the best experiences of my life so far.
Living in the capital city of Sicily, a beautiful and chaotic city, made my experience even more adventurous.
I participated in several projects, for which it was great to work five days a week. On weekends, as well as during the week, I was able to explore the city and the island, both during the day and at night.
Ubuntu, Caritas and Sun Park are very interesting projects that other people like me could work on with interest. At Ubuntu, which is a kindergarten, I was doing my main activity with children. I also had the opportunity to learn about and support other projects such as Caritas. There I cooked meals for people who could not afford food and also for the homeless. Then I worked for Parco del Sole, an after-school program where kids could do homework and have recreational activities.
It was very interesting for me to work with children and homeless people because they all have different backgrounds and live in vulnerable situations, which made me think more about life and for this new point of view, I am very grateful.
Going abroad for the first time for volunteer work was the best decision I could have made!
